
Introduction to Economics is a core subject within the Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management.
The overall objective of
this subject is to understand the nature of economics and its importance in
business decision making. Students commence with learning the major economic
concepts, systems and mechanism before progressing to micro, macro and international
economics. Through their entire learning and assessments, students apply the
learning to tourism and hospitality businesses. These include but are not
limited to application of demand and supply, elasticity, consumption and
production, market structures, GDP, unemployment, inflation, interest rates,
government fiscal and monetary policies, international trade and exchange
rates.
